The body of an escapee from the Moccasin Bend Mental Health Facility has been found in the Tennessee River.
At 11:06 a.m., Chattanooga Police responded to a body found on the shoreline of the river approximately one mile downriver from the mental health facility. The body was recovered and has been identified as Waylon Farless, who had escaped the facility Tuesday.
Search and Rescue Teams on Wednesday were not able to locate the reported missing man and the search was discontinued on Wednesday night.
Officers from numerous agencies had been searching the river and shoreline for the 36-year-old Farless of DeKalb County, Tn.
Authorities said he had jumped off a roof at the facility, then climbed a fence around 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Farless had criminal charges out of DeKalb County and was recently taken to Moccasin Bend Mental Health Facility for mental health concerns.
