Robert Lamar McGill, 80, of Menlo, Georgia, died on Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mr. McGill was born June 18, 1932 in Wildwood, GA, the son of the late Robert McGill and Janie Moore McGill. He was retired from Combustion Engineers. Mr. McGill was a member of Faith Baptist Church. He was a loving husband and father. Mr. McGill was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in the Korean War. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Roger Byrd McGill.

Survivors include his wife, Kathleen Amos McGill; daughter and son-in-law, Robin and Billy Sumrall; son, Robert L. McGill III; sister, Geneva Busby; grandchildren, Harley Sumrall, Jordan Sumrall, and Megan Walker.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 28, at Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Jimmy Wilborn officiating. Burial will follow in LaFayette City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his nephews.

Mr. McGill will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, July 27.
