Slick Political Ads - And Response (3)

Thursday, July 26, 2012

Slick political ads don't make a man, life experiences do that.

Joining the military might be a great start for young WW to "serve" the country before he jumps from college into making laws for us citizens.

Oh, I forgot, they don't get paid that well, they risk their lives, and they don't have a pension with gold standard health care for life. Daddy taught him well.

WW's ads reek of a high-priced ad firm with great footage for the Wampford voters. They eat this stuff up.

I approved this message . . . don't you?

Ronnie,

Thank you for your compliment on our television ads. Unlike my opponents' ads, ours were shot and produced here in Chattanooga by some very talented members of our local community.

Remember that if some young Americans do not serve in the political arena, their peers on the front lines will not be represented in the political process. Case in point: there is not currently a Member of Congress under 30 years old. However, most of our men and women serving oversees are between 18 and 29 years old.

Also your facts are wrong, Members of Congress do not get health care for life. My parents have a private health insurance plan just like everyone else.

Slick political ads don't make a man, but making milk and ice cream do?  Slick political ads don't make a man but being a rubber stamp for the GOP and never having an independent thought of your own does? C'mon, I've heard lots more about Weston Wamp's positions and views than I have concerning Mr. Mayfield.  Let's not even talk about Chuck's "7 point plan" for reelection.  Also, I almost thought I heard a slight spirit of compromise in Weston, a trait sadly lacking in today's political climate.

He's young?  Big deal. What has all of that mature congressional leadership gotten us the last 13 years?  When I look at Mitch McConnell, Harry Reid, John Boehner and Nancy Pelosi, I'm not exactly sold on the whole "with age comes maturity" thing.

Plus, he's got a good first name.

Ronnie, although I have agreed with you on many of your opinion letter, I do not approve this message. I'm trying to remember which branch of the military you served, but that's not the point. Trust in your rant brings to mind several points for me, the first being that Mr. Wamp has the fortitude to respond to you and do so in such a mature and positive way.

My second point is we are blessed to have good candidates in this race. However, Mr. Wamp stands out in my mind as being the best prepared to face the problems at hand and help make this a better country for future generations. He is doing his own ads, not hiring a "has been" from another state to do his talking, and he is willing to debate with anyone. Chuck wouldn't show up to debate during his first campaign and now Mr. Mayfield won't show up and debate. That only tells me that they both realize how ill prepared they are to carry the torch.

My third and final point is this: I have four adult children. It has been my pleasure to hand over the reins to them in many areas. They are young but I was too at one time. They have energy, integrity, fortitude and are on the cutting edge, just like Weston Wamp. Their abilities and hard work have made my life better. I'm ready to hand over the reins to Mr. Wamp and he has my vote.

I hope many of my friends and neighbors will approve this message and join with me in voting for Weston Wamp. Won't you?
