James Jones Jr., 81, of Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia, died on Monday, July 2, 2012, in a local hospital.
He had been a resident of Fort Oglethorpe for 50 years. Mr. Jones was a truck driver for more than 50 years starting as a milkman home delivery service. He also worked for Southwest Motor Freight, West Point Pepperell, and CTI and later was the owner and operator of his own rig.
Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his parents, James and Jesse Wilson Jones; wife, Betty Sue Hunt Jones; daughter, Linda Sue Jones; brother, Herbert Jones; sisters, Ruth Manning, Thelma Morgan and Katherine Hicks.
Survivors are his sons, Ken Jones, Ringgold, Mike Jones, Panama City Beach, Florida; , daughter, Beverly Bearden, and son-in-law, Dale, Rossville; sister, Pat Wilson, Chattanooga; grandchild, Lindsay Bearden.
Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, July 6, in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens with Minister Mike Gurganus officiating.
