In Georgia's District 1 House contest, Alan Painter of Rossville won Walker County in a race with Mike Nowlin of Chickamauga and John Deffenbaugh of Lookout Mountain in the Republican primary. But Mr. Deffenbaugh, a former member of the Dade County Commission and resident of Lookout Mountain, Ga., won big in Dade to emerge in a run-off with Mr. Painter.
Democrat Thomas McMahan of Rising Fawn is the Democratic candidate.
Republican Martin Scott did not seek re-election.
