The city of Chattanooga is spending an initial $2.4 million as part of the consent decree it signed last week with tstate and federal water quality regulators.
Steve Leach, public works administrator, said the $2,446,211 contract with Jacobs Engineering is for development of projects at the Moccasin Bend Sewage Treatment Plant in line with the order.
It is for one year of work.
Mr. Leach said it will put the city on track toward complying with the consent decree.
He said it may take over 10 years to fulfill all the requirements of the decree.
Officials have not released details of the decree or the projected cost. One estimate was in the $100 million range.
