Katherine Malvinia Barnes, 64, of Dalton, Ga., died Monday, July 2, 2012 at the local hospital. 

Katherine was born October 11, 1947 in Dalton, a daughter of the late Ethell Wayne and Lillie Beatrice Pritchett Brewer; and was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Tim Tankersley. 

She was a member of the Dewberry Baptist Church in Crandall, Ga. 

She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Sheldon and Lisa Barnes of Dalton and James and Melissa Barnes of Chatsworth; daughters and son-in-law, Sherry Tankersley of Dalton and Cristal and Glenn Holcomb of Chatsworth; brother and sister-in-law, Eddie and Mary Brewer of Dalton; sisters and brothers-in-law, Lisa and John Heath and Diane and Sam Kincaid all of Chatsworth; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. 

Services to celebrate the life of Ms. Katherine Malvinia Barnes will be held Friday, July 6, at 11 a.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Duane Smith officiating. She will be laid to rest at the Dewberry Baptist Church Cemetery in Crandall. Her close family and friends will serve as pallbearers. 

The family will receive friends from 5-9 p.m. Thursday, July 5 and after 9 a.m. Friday, July 6 at Ponders Melrose Chapel who has charge of the arrangements.
