Paula L. Carlisle, 62, of East Ridge, died on Tuesday, July 3, 2012.

Mrs. Carlisle was born in Norfolk, Va., and graduated from Carol City High School in Miami, Fla. She was a member of Ridgeview Baptist Church where she enjoyed volunteering in the nursery. She was a teacher’s aide at McBrien and Eastside Elementary Schools where she also worked at the before and after-school care programs.  Paula will always be remembered as a good wife, mother and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her father, Paul J. Smith and brother, Chris Smith.

She is survived by her husband of 40 years, David R. Carlisle II; daughters, Becky (Lance) Bumgardner and Beth (Jarrid) Rowe; grandchildren, Story, Sage and McKenna; mother, Willie Smith; brother, Bill (Andrea) Smith and their son, Jonathan; sister-in-law, Melody Smith and son, Zach; and best friend, Sarah Aslinger.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, July 5, and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Friday, July 6, at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 7, at the funeral home.

Burial will follow at Lakewood Memory Gardens East.

Memorial contributions may be made to the The Kidney Foundation of the Greater Chattanooga Area, Inc, 1020 Dallas Road, Suite 401, Chattanooga, Tn. 37405.

Arrangements are by the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory, and Florist, 404 South Moore Road.
