The extraordinary English duo of Trevor Watts and Veryan Weston are in the midst of a transatlantic tour, and will be co-hosting with the Shaking Ray Levi Society on Thursday, July 12, at 7:30 p.m. at Barking Legs.
Saxophonist Watts has been a fixture in the worlds of jazz and free improvisation since co-founding the seminal Spontaneous Music Ensemble with drummer John Stephens in the mid-1960s. Mr. Watts is also known for his world music group, Moire Music.
Pianist Weston is an amazingly articulate performer in jazz, classical and free improvisation. He brought down the house when the duo performed for us to open the 2011 New Dischord Festival.
This duo is remarkably tight and responsive, bringing the fruits of their long careers to the music in exciting and always surprising ways.
Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door.
