Maurine Adams, RT, MRI team leader for the Erlanger Health System, poses with the new Siemens Magnetom Aera MRI scanner, which has the capability of providing MRI scans for adults weighing up to 550 pounds and the tiniest infants weighing only a few kilograms.

Erlanger Health System is now the only facility in Tennessee to offer the latest MRI scanner from Siemens, offering the capability of providing MRI services to the tiniest patients, weighing only a few kilograms, up to adults weighing 550 pounds.

The Siemens Magnetom Aera scanner makes magnetic resonance imaging exams easier and more comfortable than ever before. The scanner offers a roomier design for claustrophobic patients and a super-short magnet that allows many scans to be completed with the head outside the bore. Moreover, sharper images can be acquired due to less anxiety-related movements and the latest motion correction technology.

For the convenience of patients, MRI scans and other outpatient imaging tests can be scheduled at the Erlanger Baroness Campus both on weekdays and weekends. Saturday hours are 7 a.m.-8 p.m., while Sunday hours are 8 a.m.-8 p.m. To schedule an imaging test, call 778-5800.
