A records clerk for the Hamilton County Sheriff's office has been charged in East Ridge with forging a prescription.

The arrest of Lori Ann Pickett , 49, of 6013 Ramsey Forgey Road, came late Wednesday night.

East Ridge Police said at approximately 11:21 p.m., they responded to the Walgreens Pharmacy at 5301 Ringgold Road in reference to a fraudulent prescription. When officers arrived, pharmacy staff stated they had a prescription that "didn’t look right."

During the investigation, it was found that the doctor’s name had been misprinted and signatures did not match. Contact was made with the doctor’s office and confirmation was made that the prescription was forged, police said.

At that time officers made contact with the suspect who was in the drive-thru. Ms. Pickett was transported to the Hamilton County Jail where she was charged with obtaining a controlled substance by fraud.

She is scheduled to appear in East Ridge Municipal Court on Tuesday, Aug. 21, at 5 p.m.

Ms. Pickett was in the news in February 2011 when she was arrested for allegedly assaulting her court officer husband, Jim Pickett, at Juvenile Court on Third Street.

Authorities said Ms. Pickett went to Juvenile Court after receiving an anonymous phone call "stating he was having an affair with an unknown woman."

Jim Pickett had been transferred to Juvenile Court from the Courts Building downtown several months earlier after having sex with a female security guard inside the Courts Building. He has returned to duty at the Courts Building.
