Clarence Owens Langston, 86, of Lookout Valley, Tennessee, died on Friday, July 6, 2012 peacefully at his home.
He was a longtime resident of Lookout Valley and was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and all animals. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and a friend to many. He was retired from the Crane Enamel Company.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Mary Nell Langston, his parents, Walter and Elizabeth Langston and he was the last surviving sibling of five brothers and one sister.
Survivors include his children, Emma Jane (Woody) Carpenter, Jeannie (Richard) Curtis, Joannie Langston and Clarence Owen “Chuck” (Thressa) Langston, Jr., three grandchildren, Melissa Jane Hoge, Brad Curtis and Shane Langston, 11 great-grandchildren, Emily and Kaitlin Hoge, Lily, Audrey and Lucy Curtis, Paige, Justin, Allexus and Joshua Langston, Tyler and Haley Pruitt and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 9, at noon in the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home with the Reverend Everett Gossett officiating. Burial will follow at Ami Cemetery, Menlo, Ga.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 8, from 2-6 p.m. in the funeral home.
Arrangements are by the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, at the foot of Historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville.
