Robert Jackson “Bob” Combs, Sr, 81, of Dalton passed away on Saturday July 7, 2012.

He was born in Chattanooga on August 31, 1930 to the late William J. and Estie Combs of Homestead, Fla., and was preceded in death by his sister, Chloe Schweitzer, also of Homestead; son, Robert Jackson Combs, Jr. of Dalton and grandson, James Hanna of Murfreesboro.

Bob moved to Dalton in 1953 and in 1955 was appointed an agent for State Farm Insurance Companies, where he worked until his retirement in 1995. His son Bob Combs, Jr. also represented State Farm Insurance Companies until his death in 2006. His son Dan Combs has represented State Farm for 38 years and his grandson Brandon Combs also represents State Farm as an agent in Dalton.

Bob is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Combs of Dalton; son and daughter-in-law, Dan and Donna Combs of Dalton; daughters and sons-in-law, Myra and Ronald Hanna of Murfreesboro,  and Terri and David Sullivan of Dalton and son, Greg Cox of Dalton; sister and brother-in-law, Faye and Charles Waldon of Homestead, Fla.; brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Maxine Combs of Atlanta; grandchildren, Lori Combs Lowery, Christy Combs Camp, Dan Combs, Jr, Brandon Combs, Ronnie Hanna, Sarah Hanna, Valerie White, Drew White, Bailie Cox and Sarah Sullivan; great-grandchildren, Colby Combs, Caid Combs, Analea Combs, Eric Hanna, Sabrina Hanna, Lennon Lowery, Jack Lowery, Max Camp and Colin Camp; nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be Tuesday at 3 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Dalton with the Dr. Robin Lindsey officiating.

The family will receive friends in the atrium of the church on Tuesday from 1-3 p.m.

The family has requested that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to the First United Methodist, 500 S. Thornton Ave., Dalton, Ga. 30720 in memory of Bob. Words of comfort may be sent to the family at www.lovefuneralhomega.com.
