In another opinion someone wrote about Vital and Gardenhire using their own money in an attempt to "buy the election."
My question is this. Why would a smart, successful businessman use their own money to finance an election if there were no financial rewards to be reaped from their elected position? Makes you wonder doesn't it?
Oh yeah, I forgot, they wanted to "give back" and "serve." I was born at night . . . but it wasn't last night.

Well maybe everyone that gives to elections want something. Both parties receive millions of dollars from people who want something, position or contracts or influence. Why would anyone want to spend that kind of money? The job doesn't pay that much.
There are people who wish to serve the public in their communities, church, giving to great causes. Some may pay their own way so no one can look for favors when elected.
Years ago many politicians served for a dollar a year. Don't have men like that today.
