Brassworks will perform the August concert for Southside Casual Classics on Monday at 7:30 at the Camp House.

Review for Brassworks:

Brassworks is an outreach ensemble from the Jericho Brass Band of Chattanooga.  From this 30 piece all brass band with percussion, Brassworks was conceived as a smaller group who could perform in many different venues where a larger ensemble could not.

The purpose of Brassworks is to provide an enjoyable program of familiar and new music to all types of audiences.  This year, Brassworks has performed for school assemblies, churches, retirement centers, military occasions and community block parties.

The number of performing musicians has varied during the past 10 years from three to 15 or more players.  Performers for Southside Casual Classics on Monday  will consist of six brass players, which has been the number for the past year.  Members are Dave deMarche on Horn and Alto Horn, Bill Kinnaman on Euphonium, Gordon Lawrence on Tuba, Lynn Moore on Tuba, and Carroll Wallace on Trombone and Euphonium.  Dan Hanson, on the Trumpet, Cornet and Flugelhorn is Brasswork’s coordinator, and much of the ensemble’s music is composed or arranged by him.

Music for the program, which will include marches, folk tunes, patriotic selections, pop tunes and hymns.
