Woodruff Congratulates Franklin After Recount Confirms Close Win By Lookout DA

Friday, August 10, 2012

The recount requested by Doug Woodruff in the Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit District Attorney race was completed late in the day on Thursday, and resulted in identical vote counts in each of the four counties covered by the race.

Mr. Woodruff, who challenged incumbent Herbert "Buzz" Franklin, was personally present at three of the four recounts and complimented all of the election officials.

He said, “The attention to detail and diligence employed by all of the officials throughout the election was exemplary. I want to thank them for their hospitality, courtesy and transparency during the recount process.”

Mr. Woodruff says he is disappointed with the results but proud of his campaign and the work that went into it. “This was a universally positive experience thanks to the good people of Catoosa, Chattooga, Dade and Walker Counties and the many volunteers and supporters of my campaign. It was my honor to have had the opportunity to seek election, meet so many new friends and to strengthen old friendships in the process.”

Mr. Woodruff called Mr. Franklin late Thursday and congratulated him on the win.
