East Ridge Fire/Rescue and Police responded to a house fire at 3719 Connelly Ln. on Monday afternoon. Firefighters arrived on the scene in just two minutes to find heavy smoke coming from the area of the attic.
The four occupants had safely evacuated as firefighters established an interior attack. Firefighters found heavy fire engulfing much of the attic and were able to contain the fire to the attic and prevented it from spreading to the remainder of the home.
East Ridge Fire Investigators spoke with the homeowner who stated that she had heard a loud boom then immediately smelled smoke. It is believed that lightning struck the home causing the fire. Damage is estimated at $50,000.
Units responding to the scene include East Ridge Squad 1, Engine 2, Engine 1, Quint 1, Rescue 1, and Support 1. Angel EMS also responded.
