Eddie Pierce will be taking the place of Ruth Jeno for the at large seat on the Red Bank Commission as he was the only candidate to qualify. The qualifying deadline for the November election was today at noon.
Mayor Monty Millard in District 2 is opposed by Rick Causer. Commissioner Ken Welch did not have opposition. He took the place of Vice Mayor Greg Jones, who moved to Alaska late last year. Floy Pierce and Vice Mayor John Roberts are in mid-term.
In East Ridge, seven candidates will be going after two open spots on the council. Denny Manning is the only incumbent back on the ballot. Darwin Branam picked up a qualifying petition late, but decided not to run.
Marc Gravitt, who finished high in the balloting in the last East Ridge election, is one of the contenders. Also running are Ann Pruett, wife of the late Mayor Fred Pruett, along with Patricia Cassidy, John Clemmer, Stephen King Jr. and Mimi Lowery.
East Ridge Mayor Brent Lambert and Vice Mayor Larry Sewell do not have to run this year.
Signal Mountain City Council candidates include incumbents Bill Lusk, Annette Allen and Bill Wallace.
Also running are Joe Dumas, Frank Preston and Sandy McCrea.
In Walden, Bill Trohanis is opposing Alderman David Epperson. Peter Hetzler is opposed for mayor by Elizabeth Akins.
At Lakesite, incumbents John McPherson and David Howell were the only ones to qualify, though three others picked up petitions.
Incumbents Jim Adams, Gene Shipley and Shane Harmon will be on the ballot in Soddy Daisy. Also in the running will be former Commissioner Patti Skates, David Smith, Mark Bivens, Les Jewell and Garland Johnson.
