A motorcyclist in Bradley County is in serious condition after being thrown into a barbed wire fence on Thursday night.
Bradley County Emergency Medical Service responded at 8 p.m. to Cates Lane off of Chatata Valley Road on a reported motorcycle crash. One ambulance and a paramedic supervisor went to the scene.
When EMS crews arrived they found a 37-year-old man who had been riding a dirt bike type motorcycle lying in a ditch. When he was ejected he was thrown into a barbed wire fence.
He was stabilized and it was determined that his injuries warranted a level one trauma center. Air medical was requested to land at the scene. Life Force from Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga responded and landed near the scene.
The Bradley County Fire department established a landing zone at the Chatata Valley Golf Course on Benton Pike. The patient was then flown to Erlanger.
