To the voters of the Tenth Senate District,
I would like to take this opportunity to thank my supporters and all who believed in me enough to cast their vote in my favor on August 2 for the 10th Tennessee District Senate primary race. Going through a campaign, especially one so close, is truly a humbling experience and I am a better person for it.
Over the course of the past few months, I had the privilege to meet thousands of people from all across Southeast Tennessee and from all walks for life in Hamilton and Bradley Counties.
It gave me a renewed perspective on how fortunate we are to live in such a free society with the ability to pursue our own goals and dreams. And we owe to our successor generations to preserve those freedoms we inherited.
Now that our very close election has been certified by the Tennessee Secretary of State, I would also like to thank Greg Vital for offering himself for public service and also all of his supporters who no doubt worked very hard to win a victory for him. Campaigns are tough to go through and even tougher when two well-qualified candidates emerge to seek such a seat, sometimes making decisions of support very hard. I understand that as I have been on both sides of campaigns on election night.
I do now humbly ask for your support and confidence.
As we move forward, to quote my former mentor and friend the late Jack Kemp when accepting the 1996 nomination for Vice President, “Our friends in the other party say the economy is moving forward, and it is. But it is moving like a ship dragging an anchor, the anchor of high taxes, excessive regulation and big government”.
It is time to pull those anchors and all begin rowing in the same direction to move Tennessee, and our country, forward and allow the private sector to prosper and once again grow, creating new jobs and allowing all to move toward their own goals and dreams.
It would be my honor to serve in the Tennessee Senate and I ask for all of your support and vote as we move toward the November General election.
Respectfully,
R. Todd Gardenhire
Candidate for Tennessee State Senate
District 10
