McCallie Welcomes New Faculty And Staff

McCallie School welcomed 16 new faculty members and nine new staff members to campus this week as preparations for the new school year wrapped up.

 

Two faculty newcomers are McCallie graduates. Cody Cleveland ’05 will teach core studies in the Upper School and assist with the wrestling program, and Ralph Potter ’81, who arrived on campus last year, is the head football coach and will head up a freshmen leadership course.

 

Other new teachers on board this year include: Maria Gonzalez, Middle School Spanish; Ryne Linsley, Upper School history and lacrosse assistant; Sean McCourt, Upper School history and head crew coach; Paul Merrion, Upper School art and crew assistant; Marcus Murphy, Upper School Chinese and outdoor program assistant; Greg Payne, Upper School economics and head baseball coach and Jennifer Potter, Middle School math.

 

The following will work in an adjunct capacity: Theresa Coker, handbells; Tim Costo, baseball assistant; Stevie Ray Dallimore, drama; Bob Edwards, Middle School Chinese; Cory Simpson and Efrin Stewart, football assistants and Sarah Strickland, strings.

 

New additions to the school’s administrative staff include T.J. Bass, athletic trainer; Russell Buck, computer support specialist; Chris Gomez ’93, director of student health; Thomas Hayes ’88, major gifts officer and William Kent ’06, assistant director of annual giving.

 

Also new to campus are Patrick Lawson ’05, assistant director of boarding admission; Sarah Moore, administrative assistant for reunion giving and alumni relations; Jane Sharp, administrative assistant to the director of annual giving and Julie Standefer, administrative for boarding admission.

 

Additionally, three longtime McCallie employees were recently appointed to higher positions of responsibility as Director of Development (Penny Grant), Director of Summer Programs (Mike Wood) and Director of Sports Camp (Hank Bramblet).

Three new department chairs for 2012-13 were also named recently. Sam Currin is the English Chair, Suzanne Mortimer wills serve as Art Chair and Rev. Ed Snodgrass is the Chair of Bible, Leadership, Ethics and Wellness.

 

Monday, August 20 marks the first day of classes.


Grainger Foundation Supports Georgia Northwestern Technical College Foundation

Dog Fighting Operation Uncovered On Talledega Avenue

TBI was executing a narcotics search warrant at 6302Talladega Ave. in Chattanooga on Friday and uncovered a dog fighting operation. Officials said it consisted of numerous pit bills, a fight ring, a treadmill and blood-stained carpets and paneling. Mcckamey Animal Services personnel were processing the fight scene. City May Move Forward On $47 Million Wilcox Tunnel Project

City officials may move forward on a $47 million project to upgrade the narrow Wilcox Tunnel through Missionary Ridge. The City Council on Tuesday is to consider a resolution to apply for a $25 million federal TIGER grant. The city would still have to come up with $21,825,000 through "local funds or grants."
