Warner Park Pool And Spray Park To Offer Extended Hours And Days Through September

Friday, August 17, 2012

The City of Chattanooga Parks and Recreation has seen an explosion in numbers this year at the Warner Park Pool and the Splash and Play. Since opening for the season over the Memorial Day weekend, Warner Park has seen over 22,000 visitors and over 70 birthday party rentals, making Warner Park the perfect and affordable summer destination.

These numbers equal to nearly 300 visitors a day, despite a rainy July. Numbers continue to decline at many pools and aquatic centers across the country, but Parks and Recreation has seen it’s biggest year ever.

As the 2012-2013 school year begins, Warner Park Pool and Splash and Play will continue to operate Fridays through Sundays through Sept. 30. This will make for the longest season ever at Warner Park Pool and Spray Park.

“We are glad to have such a high demand,” Said Eric Jelinski, assistant director of Recreation. “Due to record highs this year both in temperature and attendance the Parks and Recreation department has listened to the desire of the citizens to extend the Spray and Play hours through September.  We’re thrilled to offer another great recreational outlet for weekends through September, while it’s still so warm.”

Starting Aug. 17, the Warner Park Pool and Spray and Play will open Fridays from10 a.m.-3 p.m. (Spray Park Only) and Saturday/ Sundays from 12:30-5 p.m. (Pool and Spray Park). The pool and spray park will also open 12:30-5 p.m. on Labor Day.

Starting Sept. 8, the Spray Park will open Fridays from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. and Saturday and Sundays from 12:30-5 p.m. through Sept. 30. Birthday party rentals are still available through Sept. 30.

The City offers reasonable rates at just $3 for adults, $2 for 3-14 years old and free for 2 and under.

The mission of the City of Chattanooga Parks and Recreation Department is to provide an excellent variety of leisure opportunities to enhance the individual's quality of life through exceptional programs in attractive, safe, and well-maintained parks and facilities.
