Reba Hoodenpyle, 87, formerly of Signal Mountain, Tennessee, of Tallahassee, Florida, passed away on August 16, 2012. 

She was born in Bledsoe County in Pikeville, Tn., on Nov. 15, 1924. She was one of 21 children and fifth from the youngest. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cornelius Hoodenpyle, two sons, Danny and Donald Hoodenpyle, Father Frank Campbell, Mother Lala Bell Campbell and nine brothers and seven sisters.

She worked at Ross Meenhan Foundry, in Chattanooga during WWII. She later married Cornelius Hoodenpyle on March 15, 1947 following his return from the Pacific and after liberating the Philippines in General McArthur’s 1st Calvary division. Reba and Cornelius lived on Signal Mountain overlooking Chattanooga and had three sons. Reba later worked as a dietician at the Signal Mountain Elementary School and Cornelius worked at 3M Corporation. 

She later received her license and practiced as a Beautician and stylist in her community. After losing her husband in 1988, she opened a beauty shop at a Mountain Creek Nursing home until 2006 prior to her move to Tallahassee to be with her son and family. She was a member of the Signal Mtn. Church of Christ for over 45 years and the Timberlane Church of Christ until her death. She had that entrepreneur spirit, loved cooking, canning, sewing, quilting, and helping others. She loved her family and was a faithful Christian, devoted wife, and mother. She loved God, fought the fight, and won.

Survivors are her son, David Hoodenpyle (Lois), sisters, Carolyn Acuff (Atlanta), Frances Lane (San Diego CA), Charlotte Acuff (Chattanooga), grandchildren, Angela Isaac (Sean), Scott Hoodenpyle, Seth Hoodenpyle (Tiffany), Daniel Harris, great-grandchildren, Emily Hoodenpyle (Mark), Shauna Isaac, Charlene Hoodenpyle, Kaitlyn Harris, great-great-grandchild, Leah Mitcham, nieces and nephews, daughter-law,Cheryle Lee. 

A memorial service will be held at Timberlane Church of Christ in Tallahassee, Florida on Sunday, Aug. 19, at 5 p.m.

The family will receive friends after 5 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 24, at Lane Funeral Home, 601 Ashland Terrace.

Funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday, Aug. 25 in the chapel of Lane Funeral Home with Minister Greg Nance officiating. Interment will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

Eileen L. Trippler, 95, of East Ridge, died on Tuesday, May 21, 2013. Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 23, at Chattanooga National Cemetery.   There will not be any visitation prior to the burial.
