John Mills Arrested In Red Bank For Terrorism Among Other Charges

Tuesday, August 21, 2012

Red Bank police officers arrested a man Tuesday morning on several charges.

At approximately 3:15 a.m., officers investigated a suspicious vehicle seen backing onto the parking lot of Action Plumbing at 3105 Dayton Blvd. Upon further investigation, it was determined that the driver of the vehicle, John Lewis Mills, 42, was intoxicated and he was placed under arrest for DUI.

A subsequent search of his vehicle revealed two “Molotov cocktail” incendiary devices. Mills stated that he was upset with the Red Bank Police Department who had earlier in the evening arrested his girlfriend for DUI and wanted to blow something up.

Mills was stopped two businesses away from the Red Bank Police Department at 3117 Dayton Blvd. It is believed that based upon his statements and proximity to the police department, that his intention was to disrupt the orderly conduct of government by employing these incendiary devices against the facilities of the Red Bank Police Department.

Members of the Chattanooga Police Department Explosive Ordinance Disposal (E.O.D.) Team removed the devices and rendered them harmless.

Mills, of 4017 Oakland Terrace, Red Bank, is charged with DUI, two counts of possession of a prohibited weapon, and one count of terrorism.
