Paul Weaver, 81, of Dalton, GA, died Monday, August 20, 2012 at the Chatsworth Health Care Center. 

Paul was born June 29, 1931 in Centre, AL, a son of the Mannie Paul and Gussie Campbell Weaver; and was also preceded in death by his first wife, Dolores Mongan Weaver; second wife, Mary Frances Weaver; brothers, Ellis and Cecil Weaver; and sisters, Mabel Davis and Gladys King. 

Paul loved hunting, fishing and gardening. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. 

He is survived by his daughters and son-in-law, Deborah and Ronald Pearson and Sharon Byers of Dalton; brothers and sisters-in-law, Roy and Eva Mae Weaver of Centre, AL and Randall and Eloise Weaver of Chatsworth; sister and brother-in-law, Nellie and Harlan Cochran of Centre, AL; grandchildren, Nicholas and Andrea Pearson, Brandon and Heather Lyn Byers and Heather and Mike LaBarbera; great-grandchildren, Michaela Byers, Jocey Lynn Byers and Graylon LaBarbera; and several nieces and nephews. 

Graveside services to celebrate the life of Mr. Paul Weaver will be held Friday, August 24, at 2 p.m. central time at The Cherokee Memory Gardens in Centre, AL, with Dr. Steven Pearson officiating. 

The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. Thursday, August 23 at the Ponders Funeral Home who has charge of the arrangements. 

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association 922 East Morris St. Dalton, GA 30721.

William “Bill” Wills Dowdy, 82, died on May 23, at Community Care of Rutherford County in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, following a very brief illness. He was born Jan. 1, 1931, in Brownsville, Tn., to the late Arvil Odell Dowdy and Alma Juanita Bright Dowdy. Bill was a graduate of Red Bank High School. Woman Killed In Early-Morning Wreck On Thrasher Pike

A woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash in the 1200 block of Thrasher Pike early Saturday morning. Soddy Daisy Police Chief Phillip Hamrick said a female passenger was ejected from the vehicle. She was transported to Erlanger Hospital by LifeForce helicopter about 3:15 a.m. The driver was transported by Hamilton County EMS. It is believed he had non-life threatening injuries. ... City May Move Forward On $47 Million Wilcox Tunnel Project

City officials may move forward on a $47 million project to upgrade the narrow Wilcox Tunnel through Missionary Ridge. The City Council on Tuesday is to consider a resolution to apply for a $25 million federal TIGER grant. The city would still have to come up with $21,825,000 through "local funds or grants."
