Safety In Times Of Storm

Saturday, August 25, 2012

It's almost symbolic that a possible hurricane is bearing down on Tampa as we begin the GOP Presidential Nominating Convention next week.  I remember as a child my grandfather having a storm pit dug in back of the house for us to go down into when a threatening storm was approaching, and how comforting it was to huddle with my parents as the wind howled above the trap door that sealed us from the fury.

Thats what we will be doing next week.  Looking for safety and solutions, hunkering down and praying for protection as Isaac whips across the city. Those ominous clouds that threaten our Nation's survival are even more frightening.  There's a gospel song that expresses it clearly - "Lord, keep us safe til the storm passes by!"

One note of providential promise. The entire Tennessee Delegation will be staying in a Tampa suburb which has opened its arms to welcome us.  Its name?  Safety Harbor, Fla.

Thanks, Sheriff

The Hamilton County Sheriff's Department is very responsive and professional out in Apison, and I appreciate that.  We have some fine deputies serving Hamilton County.    I took a minute to call and tell them thank you, I hope my neighbors will also. Brian Wood Apison (click for more)
