God Helped Build Our Business, Not Government - And Response (2)

Tuesday, August 28, 2012

Dear Mr. President,

It is with great concern for our country that I write to you today.  Our country is in danger of a great economic disaster.  In your recent statement, you revealed your true thinking that it was not business owners who had built their businesses, but someone else was responsible and then you made reference to the roads and bridges that one must travel to get there and the teachers, firemen and police who helped build business.  You told us in so many words that government was responsible. I think you lack the experience to know who really built our business, so I will tell you who did build it.

I was involved in helping my husband build a business over 55 years ago.  Government did not step in to take the risks that over the years had to be taken; government did not loan us the money when we needed it; government did not help us rebuild after a storm almost destroyed the business; it was not government that came and helped set up a temporary place to do business and work night and day to get it up and running again; it was our family and the employees who.

The truth is God has used many people over the years to come to our aid:  Harold’s dad sold his house to provide funds to get started; later a good banker decided to take a chance on Harold and loaned us enough to keep going when times were hard; we sacrificed many things for years to make a go of it and not once did government help, but we have over 55 years continued to pay federal, state, and local taxes.    Mr. President, we paid taxes for those roads, bridges, teachers, and public employees that you gave credit to for building our business.  We are retired now, but still we are paying an enormous amount of taxes.

You have increased burdensome regulations and have plans to raise taxes higher still on businesses, but your plan will not provide jobs.  Instead it will actually hurt our nation economically.  Americans cannot afford your plans for bigger government.  Government is not helping us, it is hurting us.  Now, I will tell you to whom we give the credit for having saved us in troubled times; it is none other than God our creator, whom we have turned to daily in good and bad times.  Yes, we have made wrong choices at times and tried to do it all in our own strength and we failed, but when we turned back to God,  He helped us, as He had before, using ordinary people.  God is our help.

And yes, God did design government for the people to be governed by and we must pay taxes for government to serve the people, but Mr. President you have it backwards.  You, Pelosi, Reed and your advisors believe government is more important than God.  Government is not the answer; it is the problem now. We the people believe a different way. Please turn back to trusting God and He will get us through this. We have prayed for you for three years to let God be your guide and not government.  Turn back to God.  He has saved His people before, when they cried out to Him.  God does intervene in the affairs of men.  May God Bless America once again.

Ms. Coker I commend you on a well written article.  You nailed it on the head and if anyone built the county and city services it is small business.  Yes, it is the small business that built the infrastructure that government unbearably pressures to fill their coffers.  The day is coming when government will finally tax small business to death and that is the day when most, if not all, government employees will be unemployed.  Government does nothing for my business but apply tax on top of tax on top of tax to the point that it’s becoming not worth the effort.  So when the day comes my fine group of employees are terminated and I close my doors, will be the day they start taking from the system while no longer giving and my address will no longer be a cash cow for the government to free spend and I too will start taking from the system just as the welfare society does now.  Wake up government, your day is coming.

Leave Lincoln Park Alone

I am saddened and disappointed that city officials are planning on placing a road through the former site of Lincoln Park.   Lincoln Park was a rare source of enjoyment and entertainment for African Americans, where families came together for relaxation and celebration.   The park was a preferred destination for African Americans throughout the local region and residents ... Roy Exum: Hypocrisy And Horses

I am still wincing over the fact a horrendous bill passed in the state legislature that would make whistle-blowers into criminals would have actually gone into law had it not been for Governor Bill Haslam’s eleventh-hour veto. Called the “Ag-Gag bill,” similar efforts in other states have also soured because it is no more than a Catch-22 trick to protect those who abuse animals, ... (click for more)
