Cleveland State Hosts Sustainability Workshop

Wednesday, August 29, 2012

Cleveland State Community College will be hosting a sustainability workshop titled “How to Save On Your Electric and Water Bills” on Friday, from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. in the George R. Johnson Cultural Heritage Center Theater on CSCC’s campus.

Patty Hurley of Volunteer Energy and David Orr of Cleveland Utilities are the presenters for the workshop designed to teach homeowners, renters, business owners, and non-profit managers ways to reduce the amount they pay on their utility bills.

“Cleveland State is honored to have received funding from the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) which allows us to conduct this workshop. Mrs. Patty Hurley and Mr. David Orr have been amazing to work with on this workshop. They have planned a session that will be informative in providing those who attend with information on how to reduce their utility bills,” said Tracey Wright, director of Special Programs and Community Relations. “This workshop will also have a presentation component followed by a question answer period. Cleveland State is hopeful that all who participate will leave with at least one thing they can do that might have a positive impact on our environment.”

According to Ms. Wright, the “How to Save On Your Electric and Water Bills” workshop is only one part of a series of workshops on sustainability the college will be hosting throughout the month of September. “Cleveland State is excited to be among the leaders in our community in providing opportunities for individuals to learn more about how to live a greener life. This workshop series is designed to allow us a forum to do just that. Many knowledgeable professionals have signed on to be a part of this series packed with information for learners at all levels. The professional contractor should find sessions that will be beneficial—as should homeowners, business owners and non-profit managers. We have been intentional in providing a great learning opportunity for anyone on these subjects.”

For more information on the sustainability workshop series, contact Ms. Wright at 423 473-2341 or 800 604-CSCC, ext. 341.
