The award winning Marksmen Quartet will bring their unique style of gospel music to the Mt. Hermon Baptist Church, 2373 Hog Jowl Road, in Chickamauga, on Sunday, Sept. 9, at 10:30 a.m. For more information, call 706.539-1012. 

The group was nominated in 2012 for Society for Preservation of Bluegrass Music in America Contemporary Bluegrass Gospel Group of the Year, an award they have received four times in the past. 

The four-time Country Gospel Quartet of the Year winners from the Country Gospel Music Guild will perform many of their hits songs including “He Is I Am,” “Meet Me In Heaven,” “Potter’s Wheel,” “Preach the Cross” and “Grandpa Was a Farmer.”

“This Is My Crowd,” their latest Rural Rhythm CD, is a diverse collection of songs designed to reach as many people with the gospel message through a mix of Bluegrass gospel, country inspirational, old-time Southern gospel, a touch of convention singing and even some blues, according to band member, Mark Wheeler.   “This Is My Crowd contains some of the best songs we have ever recorded,” he said.

The album was produced by Earle Wheeler and Mark Wheeler and mastered by Steve Gulley.  This Is My Crowd contains some special guests including Les Butler, Bryan McDowell and Jon Edmisten who have assisted the Marksmen Quartet in creating a fresh new album of 14 songs that will delight their fans and surely make many new ones. Their latest singles are "Don't Take Your Life (Take Mine)” and  "Stack Them Stones."  

They will also share material from their Dove nominated CDs “God’s Masterpiece” and  “Blue Ridge Mountain Memories.” 

"We are honored to know that folks draw a blessing out of the talents God gave us to share,” said Earle Wheeler, quartet leader. “Each week we share God’s message in song and word wherever He allows us to go and that is what it is all about." 

After and more than 40 albums, winning four times as Gospel Bluegrass Band of the Year from SPBGMA, the group continues its legendary musical legacy with Earle Wheeler, Mark Wheeler, Darrin Chambers, Davey Waller and Mark Autry.

Churchwide Missions Lunch Is Sunday At Signal Mountain Baptist

A churchwide mission lunch will be at noon this Sunday, at Signal Mountain Baptist Church, 939 Ridgeway Ave. All donations for the meal will go toward youth mission trips this summer. City Council Ad Hoc Committee To Study Moving Elections To August, Adding More Districts, Staggering Terms

Chief Magistrate Russell Says Ables Should Have Waited To Sign Warrant For Teen Beer Bust

Officials in the Sheriff's Department said a warrant was not obtained early Saturday morning to go inside a house where over 20 allegedly beer-drinking teens were partying because a magistrate said he was about to get off duty and wouldn't wait over.
