The Chattanooga Lookouts got closer to clinching a playoff spot with a 4-2 win over the Birmingham Barons on the road on Thursday night.
The victory moved the magic number to sewing up the Southern League North to one.
Lookouts starter Matt Magill pitched at no-hitter through six innnings at Regions Park. But in the seventh he yielded a single to Jose Martinez and then a home run to Erik Morrison.
Chattanooga scored in the first when Barons' starter Matt Wickswat walked four batters.
The Lookouts again loaded the based in the fifth and scored twice on RBI singles by Luis Nunez and J.T. Wise. Brahiam Maldonado later homered off of reliever Dustin Umberger.
Magill improves to 11-8, 3.75. Steve Ames picked up his 18th save of the season with a scoreless ninth.
It will be Birmingham RHP Simon Castro (6-3, 3.52) versus RHP Duke Von Schamann in the second game of the five-game series on Friday night.
