To all those who voted for me and supported me throughout the school board race for the District 7 seat, I cannot thank you enough. Many of you made calls in my behalf or went door to door campaigning for me.
Former students, colleagues and teachers who worked for me when I was a principal in Hamilton County along with many lifelong friends and one former teacher, Mr. Jay Craven, shared thoughtful and touching comments about me. It is wonderful to hear those things said while you are living and not when you are gone. For all of this I will be eternally grateful.
To Ken, Gerald and Joan who worked tirelessly for me and to those who braved the heat to hold up signs for me at the polls, I say a special thanks.
But my greatest thanks is to my family for encouraging me to run and standing by me throughout the entire race. Thanks Gina, my daughter-in-law for the Apple Sign idea and to Mark and Sandi at MarkCo Printing for the great design. It was fun and I enjoyed evert minute of it.
District 7 faces many challenges in the next few years as the East Brainerd/Ooltewah area grows rapidly in population and it is incumbent on all of us to keep pressing for a new middle school and a new building for the students at CSLA. As new industries and businesses continue to locate here, new opportunities will arise and we must seize the day and do all we can for the improvement of what we offer our students.
