Emergency Preparedness Is Topic Of August Chattanooga Tea Party Meeting

Tuesday, August 07, 2012

Storms in recent years have shown area residents the importance of disaster preparedness. Catherine Goodrich, team leader for one of Nashville’s Community Emergency Response Teams, will address short and mid-term preparedness issues in August’s Chattanooga Tea Party monthly meeting on Thursday, Aug. 16, at 6:30 p.m.

The meeting will take place at The Century Club Banquet Hall, 3221 Harrison Pike (off Access Road, just south of the Highway 153-Amnicola Highway intersection, next to The Lighting Gallery).

Since moving to Nashville about five years ago, Ms. Goodrich has become deeply involved in emergency preparedness issues in her community. In addition to her team lead responsibilities, she serves on the Davidson County Amateur Radio Emergency Services (ARES) team and is a member of the Nashville Amateur Radio Club. Ms. Goodrich has presented preparedness information at local events, neighborhood associations and amateur radio meetings.

“The presentation will include information on preparedness for family, neighborhood and regional-level emergencies,” said Mark West, Chattanooga Tea Party president. “Catherine will also talk about her involvement in amateur (HAM) radio and Community Emergency Response Team training.”

Attendees are asked to RSVP to Chattanooga Tea Party’s Facebook page (link at ChattanoogaTeaParty.com). Donations will be accepted at the event to help defray costs.
