McGary Says Democrats Are Alive And Well In Tennessee

Wednesday, August 08, 2012

As the official Democratic choice in the race for State Senate District 10, Andrae McGary
today congratulated all Hamilton and Bradley County Democratic contenders in the recent primary, and said area Democrats "are united in their goals for November.

“We turned out many more Democrats this time than in recent primary races,” Mr. McGary
said, “and we are hitting the ground running with a positive campaign focusing on the keystones of our democracy: middle and working class people.”

The candidate stated that Democrats at all levels, local, state and federal, "are fighting
back against forces attempting to 'buy our democracy.' My record as a Chattanooga
city councilman proves I am a strong supporter of business. I have been a job creator
and I will help create jobs in Nashville. But middle and working class families are finding
themselves foreclosed from the American Dream.

“We are not going to let that continue. The reports of the demise of the Democratic Party in Tennessee, to paraphrase Mark Twain, have been greatly exaggerated. The upcoming Kefauver dinner here in Chattanooga will show a room filled with the spirit to fight back—and win.

”We don't realize our potential in life until we link arms and lift each other up. That's when progress can be achieved in the midst of struggles. I intend to be the state senator most dedicated to looking after the best interests of all the people I represent, Democrat, Republican and independent. I will never sell them out, and I will bring our shared values to the work I do for them in Nashville.”

He said he will retain the campaign motto of “Courageous. Committed. Connected.”
