Allison, Barbara Louise (Cleveland)

Barbara Louise Allison, 77, of Cleveland, TN, passed away Monday, August 6, 2012 in a Chattanooga hospital. 

Mrs. Allison was the daughter of the late Veta Marie Willson Rogers and Herb Rogers; and was also preceded in death by her first husband, Billy Gaston; and her second husband, Lee Allison.

Mrs. Allison was a Certified Nursing Assistant. She was employed at Royal Care Nursing Home, Bradley Health Care and Rehabilitation and she retired from Life Care Nursing Home of Cleveland. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, going to church and gospel music. Mrs. Allison was a member of the Ridgeview Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Tonya Thompson Barger and her husband Steve; her son, Terry Gaston and his wife Melanie all of Cleveland; her grandchildren, Jared Gaston of Columbia, TN, Clark Gaston, Taylor Thompson and Alexia Thompson all of Cleveland; her step-children, Roy Allison, Mary Stokes and Edwina Morrow; her sister, Janet Rogers of Cleveland; her special friend and cousin, Phyllis Stone of Benton; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

The Remembrance of Life Service will be conducted Thursday, August 9 at 2 p.m. from the North Ocoee Chapel of the Jim Rush Funeral Homes with Reverend Josh Brown and Pastor Gary Sears officiating. Interment will follow in the Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Polk County with Jared Gaston, Clark Gaston, Taylor Thompson, Steve Barger, Roger Thompson and Ken Gaston serving as pallbearers. A Dove release will conclude the services. 

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, August 8 at the North Chapel of the Jim Rush Funeral Homes who has charge of the arrangements.

Dog Fighting Operation Uncovered On Talledega Avenue

TBI was executing a narcotics search warrant at 6302Talladega Ave. in Chattanooga on Friday and uncovered a dog fighting operation. City May Move Forward On $47 Million Wilcox Tunnel Project

City officials may move forward on a $47 million project to upgrade the narrow Wilcox Tunnel through Missionary Ridge. The City Council on Tuesday is to consider a resolution to apply for a $25 million federal TIGER grant. The city would still have to come up with $21,825,000 through "local funds or grants."
