CSCC All-Academic Honors And Distinguished Academic All-American Award Athletes Named

The Tennessee Community College Athletic Association has recognized Cleveland State students with All-Academic Honors for the 2011-1012 academic year. 

  To qualify for this achievement, sophomore athletes must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher with a minimum of 48 semester hours. Freshmen athletes must maintain a grade point average of 3.2 or higher with a minimum of 24 semester hours.  

  The All-Academic Honors lists is as follows: Jared Burton, sophomore, baseball; Hunter Hammond, sophomore, baseball; Cade Seeley, sophomore, baseball; Ross Spurgeon, sophomore, baseball; Colin Sullivan, sophomore, baseball; Sarah Goza, sophomore, baseball; Casey Griffin, sophomore, softball; Ashlen Mitchell, sophomore, softball; Halen Weeks, sophomore, softball; Kasheef Baker, sophomore, men’s basketball; Damian DeMatteo, freshman, baseball; Ethan Davis, freshman, baseball; Jared Davis, freshman, baseball; Colby Harmon, freshman, baseball; Michael Hargrove, freshman, baseball; Cody Hiefnar, freshman, baseball; Alex Huddleston, freshman, baseball; Thomas Huddleston, freshman, baseball; Trey Potts, freshman, baseball; Amber Covington, freshman, softball; Kelly Sullins, freshman, softball; Hannah Brown, freshman, women’s basketball; and Matt Short, freshman, men’s basketball.  

“The CSCC Athletic Department would like to congratulate all of the student athletes on being named to the TCCAA Academic Team,” stated Athletic Director Mike Policastro. “Athletes who receive such an honor have put in many hours of hard work in both the classroom, as well as on the athletic fields.” 

The National Junior College Athletic Association has recognized Cleveland State Community College students Colin Sullivan and Casey Griffin with the Distinguished Academic All-American during the 2012-2013 academic year.  

To qualify for this achievement, each athlete must complete three full-time semesters and a minimum of 45 semester credit hours of college work, must participate at the varsity level, and must have an accumulated GPA of 3.6 or better on a 4.0 scale.  

Colin Sullivan, a member of the CSCC Baseball team from LaVergne, Tn., received the NJCAA Award for Superior Academic Achievement. Mr. Sullivan has maintained a 3.82 GPA. Casey Griffin, a member of the CSCC Softball Team from Tunnel Hill, Ga., received the NJCAA Award for Exemplary Academic Achievement.  Ms. Griffin has maintained a 3.76 GPA. 

“I would like to congratulate both Colin and Casey,” stated Athletic Director Policastro. “They have worked hard both in the classroom and at their sport to excel. It is a tremendous honor to be named to this distinguished team. We are proud of their accomplishments and their representation of Cleveland State.”

Georgia Northwestern Announces Commencement Ceremonies

Feds Dismiss Criminal Charges Against Rarity Developer Mike Ross
