UTC Women's Golf Begins Sept. 17

Monday, September 10, 2012

The Chattanooga Mocs women’s golf team tees off for the first time this fall next Monday, Sept. 17, in Louisville, Ky. In advance of that event, head coach Colette Murray and junior Jordan Britt, Chattanooga native and 2012 Southern Conference Champion, will be available at Tuesday's football media luncheon to answer questions about the upcoming season.

The Mocs have won three straight SoCon Championships and have the last two medalists including Britt. The program is entering just its sixth season of competition as it was reinstated for the 2007-08 campaign after being discontinued in the mid-80’s.

Murray built the program from the ground up while maintaining a strong competitive spirit. Her Mocs have won 12 times in the first five seasons. The Mocs have played in NCAA Regionals all five years (individual in 2008) and the team advanced to the 2009 NCAA Championship in season two.

There are three returnees including Britt. Junior Marion Duvernay (Publier, France) and sophomore Mette Kryger (Nivaa, Denmark) are back, while sophomore transfer Porsche Campbell (Vancouver, Canada) and freshmen Emily McLennan (Queensland, Australia) and Isabella Loza (Bucaramanga, Colombia) join for their first seasons.

The Mocs open at the Wild Eggs Cardinal Cup Sept. 17-18, a 54-hole, two-day event, before heading to the mid-state region for the Mason Rudolph Women’s Championship at the Vanderbilt Legends Club in Franklin for the weekend (Sept. 21-23).
