The Chattanooga Mocs volleyball team opens the doors to Maclellan Gym Tuesday night for its 5th home match of the season against Alabama State at 7 p.m.

The Mocs enter the match 5-6 on the season without a loss at home. Chattanooga is 4-0 at "Big Mac," downing Alcorn State, USC Upstate, Tennessee Tech and Alabama A&M on its home floor.

UTC is coming off a 1-3 weekend at the Kennesaw State Owls Classic in Kennesaw, Ga., with a 3-0 win over North Carolina Central, but looks to get back on track against the struggling Hornets.
ASU is 0-11 on the season, including losses to Tennessee State and East Tennessee State.

Chattanooga enters the match after a stellar weekend performance from freshman middle blocker Lauren Gainer (Boca Raton, Fla.). Gainer tallied 32 kills and a .338 hitting percentage over four matches on offense while collecting 10 blocks and 32 digs on defense.

Senior Paula Passmore (Merritt Island, Fla.) was strong on defense, as well, over the weekend for the Mocs. The libero led the team in digs with 85, averaging 5.7 per set, and was solid on the serve with eight aces from behind the line.

On the season, senior Christina Teter (Signal Mountain, Tenn.) leads UTC in kills 99 and is followed closely by freshman Julimar Alvarado (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.) who stands at 90. Junior setter Bridget Camacho (Cumming, Ga.) has assisted with 396 of Chattanooga's 453 total kills.

Passmore leads the charge on defense for the Mocs with 246 digs, averaging 6.47 digs per set. Sophomore defensive specialist Melissa Green (Boca Raton, Fla.) ranks second in digs with 78. Gainer and fellow freshman Catherine Chason (Alpharetta, Ga.) each have 70 digs to begin their collegiate careers.
