Rep. Watson Details State Appropriations For Polk, Meigs Counties

Rep. Eric Watson (R-Cleveland) Polk County will receive $32.4 million in state-appropriated expenditures for the 2012-2013 fiscal year and Meigs County will receive $24.3 million.

Among the highlights of the Polk County fiscal report prepared by the Office of Legislative Budget Analysis:

$13.8 million for K-12 Education.
$9.4 million for Health and Social Services.
$3.2 million for Law Enforcement, Safety, and Corrections.
$1.2 million for Recreation, Tourism, and Preservation.
$340,100 for Economic Development and Higher Education.
$1.2 million for Transportation projects.

Among the highlights of the Meigs County fiscal report:

$9.9 million for K-12 Education.
$7.4 million for Health and Social Services.
$1.4 million for Law Enforcement, Safety, and Corrections.
$1 million for Recreation, Tourism, and Preservation.
$316,400 for Economic Development and Higher Education.
$717,600 for Transportation projects.

Federal authorities have seized almost $6.8 million from bank accounts of an area physician. They said Dr. Raymond Sean Brown has submitted false Medicare claims. Woman Found Dead On Lovell Road; Police Looking For Terry Releford

A woman was found dead on Sunday morning at 8912 Lovell Road, and police are seeking a "person of interest" in the case. Deputies responded to that location at approximately 8 a.m. on a suspicious death. On arrival "deputies found a dead female in her 30s deceased from an apparent homicide."
