The TWRA is announcing that the Smoky Mountain Archers club is hosting a free archery sight-in weekend at the John Sevier Rifle Range and Hunter Education Center. The range is located at 2327 Rifle Range Road, Knoxville in the Halls community.
This Saturday and Sunday, hunters are encouraged to bring their archery equipment to the range to get ready for the upcoming deer archery season opening on Saturday, Sept. 22. This opportunity is an annual range event held on the weekend before the opening of the deer archery season.
According to club president Robert Ogle, club members will be present to assist archers with sighting-in and tuning up their bows. Available targets include 3D and target butts for field points only. Broadheads will not be permitted.
The range will be open on Saturday 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. and Sunday 1 p.m. – 6 p.m. Range Manger Joe Everett requires that archers possess a valid Big Game Archery License or Sportsman’s License in order to waive the gate entry fee of $5.50. Licenses are also sold onsite.
