Oak Street Playhouse To Present Comedy

The Oak Street Playhouse at First-Centenary United Methodist Church, 410 McCallie Ave., will present a comedy, "Second Time Around," with performancs Sept. 28, 29 and Oct. 4, 5, 6, all at 7:30 p.m. and Oct. 7 at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $10, $8 for seniors and groups of 10 or more, and students are $5 with ID. Prime Time Wednesday continues Sept. 19 with Financial Peace University, led by Matt and Jill Black; Divorce Recovery Support Group, led by Joan Mickles; A Disciple's Path, led by he Rev. Coffee With the Pastor, Dr. Doug Fairbanks, for those interested in joining or learning more about the church, will be Sunday, at 9:30 a.m.  Dr. Fairbanks will speak at the 8:30 and 10:45 a.m. sanctuary services on "A Necessary Rebuke," with Mark 8:27-38 as text. The Rev. Brian Davis will speak at The Vine at 10:45 a.m. on "More Than Words...Born Again.," with text from John 3:16.


Churchwide Missions Lunch Is Sunday At Signal Mountain Baptist

A churchwide mission lunch will be at noon this Sunday, at Signal Mountain Baptist Church, 939 Ridgeway Ave. All donations for the meal will go toward youth mission trips this summer. Man Stabbed To Death After Argument

A Chattanooga man was stabbed to death after an argument on Friday night. At approximately 11 p.m., Chattanooga Police responded to a stabbing at 101 E 20 th St. where they found the victim, Alexis Lewis, 51, lying on the walkway with a fatal stab wound to his chest. Baker Says City Withdrawal On Riverbend Security Will Make Pin Costs Rise Next Year

Riverbend Festival Executive Director Chip Baker told the Civitan Club on Friday that the city's decision to no longer provide city police officers inside the festival gates will cost pin prices to go up next year.
