Corbett, Sims Lift CCS To 32-27 Win Over Sequatchie County

The Chattanooga Christian football team got its first win of the year on Friday with a 32-27 win over Sequatchie County. 

Senior's Levi Corbett and Jay Sims combined for 300+ rushing yards.

CCS struck first on a 41-yard run by senior quarterback Levi Corbett on their first possession. 

Sequatchie popped off two quick touchdowns on runs by Blake Cate for 61-yard run and Brandon Turner for 1.  The Indians led 14-6 to begin the second quarter.

The two teams traded touchdowns to begin the second quarter with CCS scoring on a one-yard run by Corbett and Sequatchie scoring on a Cates 2-yard run.

CCS put seven more points on the board in the second quarter when Austin Mansell scored off a 34-yard pass from Corbett, but CCS still trailed 21-19 going into the half.

In the second half, CCS would take a 32-21 lead after Corbett found Lance Carter for six in the third quarter and Corbett scampered for a 24-yard run early in the fourth. 

Backup quarterback Dylan Harvey found Cates for 11 yards late in the fourth, but CCS was able to hold off the Indians after a Sam Ibach interception. 

Sequatchie County's Blake Cates rushed for 256 yards with most of those coming in the first half.  Indians quarterback Jake Pickett, who came out of the game with an injury early in the 3rd, rushed for 101 yards. 

Corbett ran for 158 yards on 22 carries and Sims finished with 147 yards on 22 carries.

The Chargers overcame three interceptions and Corbett finished with 121 yards and two touchdowns in the air.  Corbett also rushed for two.

CCS is off next week and hosts Grundy County in two weeks.

Sequatchie hosts Marion County next week.
