Cloer, Sherden B. (Cleveland)

Sherden B. Cloer, 76, of Cleveland, TN, passed away Saturday, September 15, 2012 at his home. 

He was a member of Farmland Community Church where he served as Deacon and was on the Board of Directors. Mr. Cloer was a member of the USS Mt. McKinley Association of Ironworkers Local #704. He worked with the Southern Baptist Disaster Relief Training Program and was a veteran of the US Navy. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Lola Cheek Cloer; sister, Etta Faye Sawyer; and brother, Paul Cloer. 

Survivors include his wife, Faye Callahan Cloer of Cleveland; daughter, Trena Pendergrass and her husband Dale of Georgetown; grandchildren, Corey Pendergrass and his wife Nicole of Harrison and Aimee Harrod and her husband Michael of Cleveland; great-great grandchildren, Tucker, Jaxon and Nolan Harrod and Brianna Pendergrass; and brother, James Cloer of Jacksonville, FL.

Funeral services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Monday, September 17, in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with Pastor Chip Hammonds officiating. Interment will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 18, in Sunset Memorial Gardens with military honors. Corey Pendergrass, Michael Harrod and members of the board of directors from Farmland Community Church will serve as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. 

His family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Monday, September 17 at the Fike Funeral Home who has charge of the arrangements.

Keenan Scott Slaughter, 52, of Jasper, TN, passed away Thursday, May 23, 2013. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed Slaughter and Millie Duvall Sloan. He was an employee of Lowes Home Improvement Store in Kimball, TN. William "Bill" Wills Dowdy

William “Bill” Wills Dowdy, 82, died on May 23, at Community Care of Rutherford County in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, following a very brief illness. He was born Jan. 1, 1931, in Brownsville, Tn., to the late Arvil Odell Dowdy and Alma Juanita Bright Dowdy. Bill was a graduate of Red Bank High School. Woman Killed In Early-Morning Wreck On Thrasher Pike

A woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash in the 1200 block of Thrasher Pike early Saturday morning. Soddy Daisy Police Chief Phillip Hamrick said a female passenger was ejected from the vehicle. She was transported to Erlanger Hospital by LifeForce helicopter about 3:15 a.m. The driver was transported by Hamilton County EMS. It is believed he had non-life threatening injuries. ... City May Move Forward On $47 Million Wilcox Tunnel Project

City officials may move forward on a $47 million project to upgrade the narrow Wilcox Tunnel through Missionary Ridge. The City Council on Tuesday is to consider a resolution to apply for a $25 million federal TIGER grant. The city would still have to come up with $21,825,000 through "local funds or grants."
