In honor of the uplifting and thought provoking video, Deana’s Story: Partnership Empowers People to Build Better Lives, Video Ideas Production won the 2012 Telly Award in the social responsibility category.
The video was created by Video Ideas Production President Jerry Waddell.
The Telly Awards acknowledges individuals locally and regionally for innovative television and web videos. The Telly Awards seeks to build the visual arts community through awarding work which exhibits inspiration and creativity.
Although, Lane admits that the most difficult aspect of filming was “reliving” her past, she said “But if it helps even one person, then it’s worth retelling.” Lane also wants audience members to live with the message that “Domestic Violence is not socially biased. It’s not ethnically biased. It can happen to anybody anywhere. There is help and most of all there is hope.”
Deana is now one of Partnership’s volunteer court advocates.
