Vonda Ware Is Sunday's Speaker At Second Missionary Baptist

The climax of a month long series of inspirational, musical and praise services in recognition of the 67th­­­ Women’s Month Celebration at Second Missionary Baptist Church is this Sunday.  The keynote speaker for the 11 a.m. occasion is First Lady Vonda Ware, MD, of New Monumental Baptist Church (NMBC).

Dr. Ware is the facilitator/founder of the Heart to Heart Women’s Ministry that seeks to empower, encourage, and equip women to grow in love - from the hearts of women to the very heart of God. Daughters of Promise, a discipleship and mentoring program for middle and high school girls is a descendant of the Women’s Ministry that serves to nurture and develop strong, confident teen girls to grow in the stature and image of Jesus Christ to become great leaders for God’s glory.First Lady Ware is married to NMBC’s Senior Pastor Roderick L. Ware and has two daughters.  A graduate of Spelman College and the Medical School of Georgia, Dr. Ware completed her residency at Emory University’s School of Medicine.  She currently specializes in gynecology at the Dodson Avenue and Southside Community Health Centers. 

Prior to the 11 a.m. service, all are invited to attend 9:30 a.m. Sunday School, where the men’s, women’s, youth and children’s classes will be taught by guest teachers.

Burks United Methodist To Provide Food At Chester Frost Park

As a community outreach, Burks United Methodist Church, 6433 Hixson Pike, will serve hotdogs and hamburgers to campers and visitors at Chester Frost Park Shelter Sunday from 3-7 p.m. A new worship series will begin Sunday when the Rev. Head Of BB&T's Chattanooga Commercial Banking Operations To Plead Guilty To Making Fraudulent Loans

The head of BB&T's Chattanooga commercial banking operations has been charged by federal authorities with making fraudulent loans. Tracy Brown is set to plead guilty to bank fraud on June 4.
