UTC Tennis Duo Named To Preseason Ranking

University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's tennis duoKaylene Chadwell and Jenna Nurik recently received a preseason national ranking from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. The Lady Mocs' pair is No. 58 in the nation after going 13-4 last season, including a win in the Gold Flight of the 2011 UTC Steve Baras Fall Classic.

Nurik and Chadwell were the only Southern Conference tandem listed in the ITA's top-60. Nurik, a senior from Roswell, Ga., is a three-time All-SoCon selection. She had an overall doubles record of 24-13 last season.

Chadwell (Franklin, Tenn.) was the 2012 SoCon Freshman of the Year after posting a team-high 25 doubles wins. She and Nurik went 5-0 as a pair in spring dual action.

The Lady Mocs start the season with the UTC Steve Baras Fall Classic on Sept. 27-29. Action takes place at the Champions Club in Chattanooga. The Lady Mocs are coming off a 16-6 record in 2012, their most wins since 1999.


White Shoots 64 For Lead In Signal Mountain Golf

With help from a hole-in-one, Davin White shot a 7-under 64 on Saturday and took the lead in the Signal Mountain Invitational at the Signal Mountain Golf and Country Club. Woman Found Dead On Lovell Road; Police Looking For Terry Releford

A woman was found dead on Sunday morning at 8912 Lovell Road, and police are seeking a "person of interest" in the case. Deputies responded to that location at approximately 8 a.m. on a suspicious death. On arrival "deputies found a dead female in her 30s deceased from an apparent homicide."
