Moc Runner Wanuch Named Runner Of The Week

University of Tennessee at Chattanooga senior Nathan Wanuch (Mississauga, Ontario) has been named the Southern Conference men’s cross country runner of the week for the second-straight week for his performance during the weekend of September 14-15, the league office announced Wednesday.
Wanuch, running against a top tier field at the Vanderbilt Commodore Invitational, posted a 24:48 personal best for 8K on the hilly Vaughn's Gap course. He placed fifth overall out of 200 finishers.
The meet was the SEC Championship preview meet and included seven of the 12 SEC schools in the field of 24 teams. Also competing were Ohio Valley Conference favorite and nationally ranked Eastern Kentucky, Miami of Ohio from the Mid-American Conference and Western Kentucky from the Sun Belt.
Appalachian State’s Sean Soderman was named honorable mention runner of the week for his performance during the weekend of September 14-15, the league office announced Wednesday.
Soderman placed sixth in a field of 221 finishers at the Winthrop Invitational. His time of 24:48 for the 8K course led the Mountaineers to a second place finish.
UNCG’s Abraham Kemboi was also named honorable mention runner of the week for his performance during the weekend of September 14-15. Kemboi picked up his first collegiate cross country win at the Elon Invitational, leading the race from start to finish. His time of 25:29 for the 8K course was almost 10 seconds faster than the next finisher.

Man Stabbed To Death After Argument

A Chattanooga man was stabbed to death after an argument on Friday night. At approximately 11 p.m., Chattanooga Police responded to a stabbing at 101 E 20 th St. where they found the victim, Alexis Lewis, 51, lying on the walkway with a fatal stab wound to his chest.
