The Mill Event Hall Under New Ownership

Sunday, September 02, 2012

The Mill event hall of Chattanooga is under new ownership.

The Catering Companies, LLC , also the owner of A Silverware Affair, 2012 Small Business Award Winner, and The Car Barn – A Unique Chattanooga Venue,  purchased The Mill after having catered numerous successful events there for the past 4 ½ years.

The major changes The Mill will undergo is that it is now one of Chattanooga’s only all-inclusive private venues that can hold up to 1,000 guests cocktail style and 450 guests seated, officials said.  The Mill’s typical event hosts 150-350 guests with the ability to do smaller events when necessary.

?       The Mill now has a license to sell and serve alcohol for any and all events

?       All food and beverage will be handled by The Mill and will transition over the next several months where it will soon become fully staffed by The Mill’s own professional service/catering staff and management team for all events booked going forward

According to Tara Plumlee, CEO of The Catering Companies, LLC, it was time for the company to grow its portfolio and add the next venue as The Car Barn often has little availability for events.

“When you answer the phone and have to tell clients ‘no we don’t have that date available’ more than you say ‘yes’, you know it’s time to expand,” sa.d Ms. Plumlee   “A Silverware Affair’s business as well as The Car Barn’s business is just so plentiful, we require a new facility in order to meet the demands of our clients.  We are here to provide our clientele the best food, service, and experience possible, and The Mill has been filled with love, laughter, music, friendship, history, fun, our delicious food, and memories for years now, and we are just ready to see our vision of The Mill blossom into a reality.

”And it’s well on its way being the 2012 Best of the Best Winner for best wedding venue for the second year in a row.  The Mill is also on board with the revitalization of Chattanooga by the addition of the Sculpture Fields of Montague Park directly behind the Mill and looks forward to hosting outdoor wedding ceremonies there in the up and coming seasons."

The Mill will be hosting the 4th Annual Faux Reception on Thursday, Sept. 13, from 6:00-9:00 p.m.  Admission is free and a cash bar will be available along with free wine with token.  "The Mill will be transformed into the feel of an actual wedding reception as the event name suggests, complete with wonderful food provided by The Mill, DJ, photographer, bridal attire, paper floral, beautiful linens, wedding cakes, make-up artists, and more," it was stated.

RSVP to 423-634-0331 to attend this free event.

Roy Exum: So How Am I Really Doing?

I’ve gotten hundreds of jokes since Tuesday when I wrote about feeling a little puny lately and expressing my belief that laughter is the best medicine. After breaking some bones in my arm as I slept last week and having no idea there were already some other fractures, it looked pretty certain I had a case of “The Big C.” I’ve always felt that stands for “courage” but the medical ...
