Central High School and East Hamilton High School Choirs will present The Hamilton County High School Choral Festival, taking place at Ridgedale Baptist Church, on Oct. 18 and featuring Hamilton County Public High School Choir students. Participating schools include, Central High School, East Hamilton High School, East Ridge High School, Ooltewah High School, Howard High School, Signal Mountain High School and CSAS.
Colene Birchfield and Cynda Holmes, the Central High School and East Hamilton High School Choir directors, bring The Hamilton County High School Choral Festival to Ridgedale Baptist Church for the first time. The Hamilton County High School Choral Festival will provide an opportunity for area choirs to work with clinicians in individual choir clinics, sight-singing workshops, and mass choir rehearsals with renowned conductor Dr. Cameron LaBarr of Lee University. The students will have the opportunity to sing together in a non-competitive environment. In addition, the festival will culminate in a performance during which each choir is invited to perform separately, as well as together in a mass choir. The public is invited to attend.
The concert performance is open to the public at 6 p.m. on Oct. 18 at Ridgedale Baptist Church.
“It’s such a great opportunity for our students to sing locally with students from all over our county. Our hope is for this festival to become an annual event,” said Ms. Holmes and Ms. Birchfield.
The event is being sponsored by Little Debbie and Zaxby’s, who will be providing festival snacks and lunch, respectively.
