Mildred Ann Charles, 84, of Decatur, TN, died on Thursday, September 20, 2012. 

She was a lifelong native of Tennessee and a member of Good Hope Baptist Church. 

Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Edith (Brown) Ledbetter; husband, Gene Charles; brothers, John E., Walt, and Jerry Ledbetter; sisters, Lena Brown, Carol Robertson, Willie B. Ledbetter and Thelma Humphrey; and sister-in-law, Joann Charles. 

Survivors include sons and their spouses, Dwight “Pokey” and Helen Charles, of Decatur and Wayne and Joan Charles, of Starke, FL.; daughters and their spouses, Peggy and Mitchell Miller and Pat and David Skidmore, all of Decatur; sisters, Chris Spurling, of Polk County and Dorothy Harvey, of Cleveland; ten grandchildren and spouses, Jackie Charles and Joyce, Jeff Charles and Jenny, Tesha Sloan and Tim, Sandy Womac and Greg, Tony Charles and Lisa, Richie Skidmore and Lois, Kasey Skidmore, Jason Miller and Star, Kristy Miller and Troy Perry, April Miller and Mary Eaton; 13 great- grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and 1 on the way; and several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, September 22, in the Bowers Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Earl Graves and Rev. Bill Pearman officiating and Steve Stephens speaking. Burial will be in the Beta cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tony Charles, Jason Miller, Jeff Charles, Richie Skidmore, Kasey Skidmore, Jackie Charles, Troy Perry; Honorary Pallbearers: Greg Womac, Tim Sloan and Paul Fulghum. 

The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, September 21 at the Bowers Funeral Home who has charge of the arrangements.



Kirkpatrick, Susan (Cookeville)
