Battle Academy hosted its first-ever Donuts With Dads this week in collaboration with First Things First. Imagine our excitement when 59 dads and other men who play significant roles in our students' lives showed up.
First Things First Fathering Coordinators Todd Agne and Willie Richardson generated smiles, excitement, and agreement as they discussed the importance of a dad in a child's life. Touching on everything from the need for a father to respect his child's mother to the role of fathers in preventing gang involvement, Todd and Willie packed a lot of information into 45 minutes.
As Willie said, kids are always watching the adults in their lives and the "record" button on their internal video camera is always on. That makes the 59 men who walked their children into the school building and stayed and extra hour stars in today's video.
Thanks, First Things First, and thanks, dads - you're making a difference in kids' lives.
